How To Feel Good About Yourself - Gok Wan Style
I was sat at home the other night watching good old Gok Wan in his fabulous programme ‘How To Look Good Naked’. This programme is great because he knocks the current trend of having super skinny women on the show. Instead he has what I would class as ‘normal’ women, all of whom are just an average build. However, when these women look in the mirror they don’t see who they really are, and mostly think they look larger than they actually are. Gok is fab because he always sees the real person in everybody.
The brilliant thing about Gok is that he never asks the women to loose weight in order to achieve a better look. Instead what he aims to do is simple - he builds up their confidence and self esteem to help them to see that they are beautiful as they are.
The episode I saw the other night had a lady on who was a size 14. There is nothing at all wrong with being size 14, but she felt totally frumpy and unattractive. She also had a real downer about her height and hated being nearly 6ft tall. Watching Gok cast his magic wand over her was such an inspiration because he doesn’t actually do a lot. He showed her the sort of clothes she could wear, and gave her some killer heels to wear, but apart from that everything that she achieved was because she was beginning to believe in herself and actually liked what she was seeing.
One vital tip I have picked up from Gok’s show is that it is important to not only wear the right clothes that suit your size, but imperative to accessorise your clothing.
It seems to be that the accessories can either make or break the outfit. Bearing this in mind, I have recently built up my collection of silver chains and silver pendants. I think that silver compliments any item of clothing and now I have a collection of silver sets ready for any occasion.
So bearing all this in mind, I think I am getting there, but I could still do with a little help from Gok to improve my confidence!
